$40,000.00 Raised at Foundation Gala

YARMOUTH (April 27, 2009) – Residents of Digby, Shelburne and Yarmouth counties who require health care services at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital will benefit from the success of the Foundation’s annual spring gala long after the guests departed and the trimmings were dismantled.

Over $40,000.00 was raised during the 5th anniversary of the spring gala held at Rodd Grand convention center on April 18th.  All proceeds were directed towards the purchase of hospital equipment. “One third of the funds were raised through the advance sale of dinner tickets and sponsor contributions, and the remainder reflects the auction and games component on the night of the event.  This is our highest revenue for the Spring Gala to date”, says Chair, Suzanne Babin-Muise.

Since 2005, this important annual event has raised over $165,000.00 in support of our Regional Health Center.  Funds have helped to purchase equipment from portable blood pressure units to high tech diagnostic equipment like the MRI.  Last year the focus was on a new cancer center, which will open within the next few months.

“The success of the Spring Gala is all about community, says Board Chair, Mark Muise.  It’s about sponsors, volunteers, auction contributors and guests rallying together in support of health care. We simply couldn’t stage this type of event without their unwavering support”, says Muise.

The spring gala is one of two signature events hosted by the Yarmouth Hospital Foundation each year.  The next event, the Jody Shelley Golf Fore Health, will take place on Friday, July 3rd at the West Pubnico Golf and Country Club. For more information phone 749-1669
