Fundraising for New Equipment at the Women & Children’s Unit

The majority of children born in Digby, Yarmouth, and Shelburne are born right here in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital! This means that the Women & Children’s Unit is a very busy place — and a unit this important deserves the best equipment possible. This year, the WE CARE Radiothon is raising funds for the vital tools these healthcare professionals need.

From delivery to post-birth, the equipment we are raising money for will help mothers and babies alike during this momentous moment.

Affinity 4 Birthing Beds offer comfort and safety for the mother, while also making it easier for healthcare professionals when it comes time to transfer patients. There are also numerous other benefits, which include simplified patient transport and a battery backup.

The infant incubators (Giraffe OmniBed Carestations) offer a protective and temperature-controlled environment for newborns, ensuring they have the best start in life possible. Through its one-touch canopy lift, the Carestation is able to become a radiant warmer without even disturbing the baby!

The Scale-Tronix® Pediatric/Infant Scale is a durable instrument that is specifically designed for a demanding healthcare environment. When relying on such a device for important information such as the weight of a newborn, precise measurements and consistence are key – and these scales have both.

Tune in to Y95 on March 6th (6am-4pm) and join us as we raise funds for this important cause. On that day, donations can be made by calling the WE CARE Hotline at 1-844-866-6464! Or drop by Radiothon HQ (in the Yarmouth Mall opposite Dollorama and Rossy’s) with your pledge! Donations can also be made any time by sending an etransfer to info@yarmouthhospitalfoundation.ca.

Yarmouth Hospital Foundation Board of Directors

The Yarmouth Hospital Foundation is extremely fortunate to have the unwavering support of the local community. Without it, we wouldn’t be able to help the Yarmouth Regional Hospital deliver excellent healthcare to the tri-county communities it serves. Our foundation is led by a dedicated and resourceful board of directors who work tirelessly to inspire generosity within the community, strengthen healthcare through investment in our regional hospital, and celebrate the impact of philanthropy.

Here is your opportunity to take part in the success of this community partnership.

The Yarmouth Hospital Foundation Board will be appointing new members over the months ahead. To ensure broad public engagement, we invite nominations to be considered by the nominating committee. Individuals must agree to being considered before you nominate them.

A recent evaluation has identified the following areas of priority in appointing new members:

• Financial Experience
• Legal Experience
• Communication Skills

Yarmouth Hospital Foundation also has a strong desire to have our board closely reflect the diverse populations served by the hospital. We invite applications from all genders, all races and ethnicities, people of all abilities, Indigenous peoples, LGBTQ2S+ persons and bilingual or multilingual individuals. We are committed to providing all applicants with equal opportunities.

Please submit full name, contact information, a short biography or CV, and a brief letter indicating reasons for interest in and appropriateness for a board position to:
