YHF Commitment to Health Care Community Fund
2023 Grant Recipients
Yarmouth Hospital Foundation has awarded grants totaling $150,000 to the following 11 organizations to aid in their mission to promote health care in the Tri-County area.
The grants are awarded from the Health Care Enhancement Endowment. Organizations are listed in alphabetical order:
- Aidaen Mae Fund – Yarmouth
Sponsor 40 youth to ensure they have everything to improve their quality of life and ability to thrive. (Access to clean clothing, transportation, meals, peer support sessions, tutoring, wellness & coping skills workshops etc.)
- Because We Care Fund – Woods Harbour
To support a one-day expo known as the “One More Light Mental Health Wellness Expo” which will bring in resources and professionals together for access to counsellors, therapies, addiction services, education opportunities.
- Clare Health Centre Foundation – Clare
Specialized exercise equipment for the ever-increasing need for physiotherapy and occupational therapy services in the effort to reduce travel to Yarmouth Regional Hospital
- Digby & Area Health Services Charitable Foundation – Digby
Emergency equipment needs of the Digby General Hospital: blood bank refrigerator; Phlebotomy chair and a Nordic wellness chair
- Gilles Boudreau & Friends Cancer Help Fund – Yarmouth
Assist with the increased costs of travel and thus improving the cancer journey of those needing to travel for cancer care.
- L’association Radio Clare – Clare
To support ten one-hour shows highlighting specific topics regarding mental and physical health with trained professionals and counselors.
- Le Transport de Clare Society – Clare
To provide to and from transportation for lower income residents of Digby County clients to their medical appointments (i.e. dialysis) who can’t afford full fares for procedures done at Yarmouth Regional Hospital or in Kentville or in Halifax.
- Sou’West Transit Association – Barrington
Purchase of health & safety supplies – portable automated external defibrillators for our vehicles as well as two wheelchairs to reduce mobility barriers
9. Villa Saint Joseph du Lac – Yarmouth
Sara Stedy manual sit-to-stand lift to enable caregivers to safely assist residents with sit-to-stand transfers. As well, an all-terrain hippocampi to allow wheelchair-reliant residents access to more locations in our community.
- Villa Acadienne – Meteghan
A sensory space for those living with dementia or Alzheimer’s to safely explore, calm or stimulate senses depending upon the need.
- Yarmouth County Hospice Society – Yarmouth
Cuddle bed to 4N End-of-life, at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Cuddle beds provide more comfort to patients nearing end of life with features not provided by hospital bed.
