Christmas Appeal
Supporting healthcare in your community is the most precious gift you can give this Christmas season!
Greater Efficiency in Blood Analysis coming soon … with your help!
The lab at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital is a busy place! In 2023 alone, they conducted almost 3 million tests. Included in those numbers are the vitally important hematology tests. Many of these tests are routine and regular, but sometimes the professionals in the lab are called upon to diagnose serious conditions urgently.
You can see why our lab needs all the best tools possible to fight against leukemias, anemias, platelet disorders, and more. And when it comes to this fight, accurate and speedy diagnosis may be the best weapon there is. This is where a digital cell morphology system comes in.
Current practice is to refer physical slides to pathologists for review and diagnosis. However, the transport times involved can cause unacceptable delays, forcing patients to wait for diagnoses or even postpone their treatment. With a digital cell morphology system, laboratory professionals at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital will be able to enlarge digitized samples, compare them side-by-side, convert them to a picture format, and have them viewed simultaneously by medical personnel at any hospital within the network. This results in swifter results and healthier outcomes for patients throughout the region!
As Shane Buchanan, Director of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine for the Western Zone, says “Having access to a
digital cell morphology system is a game-changer for the patients served by Yarmouth Regional Hospital. It offers the most innovative level of care a hematology lab can offer.” Sarah Mackinnon, Yarmouth Regional Hospital Lab Manager, adds, “We are currently the only zone in the province without this much needed technology.”
The cost of the digital cell morphology system is $226,000. Will you help us?
This Christmas, a donation to your hospital means reduced wait times, better patient outcomes, an increase in specialized care, and so much more! No gift is too big or too small and every dollar counts! Our laboratory professionals deserve the best technology, and our family, our friends and our community deserve faster diagnoses and treatment times that result.
With appreciation and best wishes for you and your family to remain safe and healthy during this holiday
season.
