Funds Raised for a Fetal Heart Monitor

Fetal heart monitors are vital pieces of equipment that let medical care teams know how the baby is doing in the womb.  Yarmouth Regional Hospital is the maternity, labour, and delivery site for residents of Sou’West Nova.  Each year an average of 300 babies are delivered in the Women and Children’s Health unit and fetal heart rate monitoring is performed during every pregnancy and delivery. 

Held at Ellenwood Park, the goal of the Sou’West Walkathon this year was to raise funds towards the purchase of a new state-of-the-art fetal heart monitor. These monitors provide a higher accuracy and earlier detection of emerging fetal compromise. We are proud to announce that thanks to our gracious donors and sponsors, we raised a total of $12,500!
