2021 Nursing Scholarships Winners

Five students in the Dalhousie School of Nursing, Yarmouth site, received scholarships awarded by Yarmouth Hospital Foundation in 2021. All five hail from Nova Scotia and plan to begin their careers at Yarmouth Regional Hospital, gratefully welcoming the provincial announcement that will offer jobs in health care facilities to students enrolled in the nursing program. Four of the five winners are fresh high school graduates, while the fifth has worked in hospitals for a number of years.

FAUGHNE STEWART: Lina & Alphie Comeau Memorial Scholarship $1,500

“Working with the public (at Barrington Pharmasave) has shown me how much I enjoy helping people which has helped me choose a career in health care.”

BRETT REEVES: Eileen R. Morisset Scholarship $2,000

“We are a family of nurses. Having parents who are leaders in their workplaces has inspired me to pursue a career in nursing.”

MONTANA MILLET: Drs. Rajender & Asha Parkash Scholarship $2,500

“Being out of high school and working as a ward clerk in two hospitals on the South Shore for the past five and a half years has really prepared me in joining the nursing program.”

SAVANA D’ENTREMONT: David R. Hall Scholarship in memory of Dr. Margaret Churchill $5,000

“I am passionate about helping people, care about the safety of others and understand the importance of the circle of care. My job as a pharmacy assistant at Lawton Drugs has helped me tremendously.”

ALEXA JEFFERY: Yarmouth Hospital Foundation Scholarship $5000

“Seeing my dad go through so many challenges (after a heart attack), mentally and physically, and the helplessness of not being able to help him has encouraged me to become a registered nurse.”
